Artist’s Biography: Marius de Vries

I have worked in the Corporate World for a couple of years and could no longer endure the monotonous side of the day to day administration. Moving on I did some designing and attending International Trade Shows. After that period, my life partner and I moved to the Karoo and became owners of a Guesthouse and being part of the Hospitality Industry moved my whole life into a different direction. Loving each moment of decorating, menu planning and wedding design. This was the perfect time to have some free time to spend on creative activities and to join art classes.  I was a volunteer and is now an employee of The Cancer Association of South Africa.

My inspiration for this art piece:

I have lost my dearest friend and her words: “Jy is vir my goud werd” (You are more worth than gold) will always be engraved in my mind.  This work is dedicated to a fantastic human being who will never ever be forgotten.
