I studied Fashion Designing for four years and launched my brand QUEENM STYLE in 2017.
I am a driven and hardworking single mom who believes that when woman stand together, incredible things can happen and to see myself rising with my fellow woman. I am a partner to Tribe, an organisation that focuses on woman uplifting. We host events focusing on inspiring and supporting woman.
My inspiration for this art piece:
People inspire my art. The people in my community and those who I have met, so my inspiration comes from the Street Vendors, specifically the woman. We need to celebrate our identities in the best way we can and most importantly allow others to celebrate. I celebrate those that wake up every morning, windy rainy and shiny days to provide to their families. Selling fruit and vegetables and some days not taking a cent home, put persevere with a positive mind-set.
I used elements of the stripe bags “Onomqcane” and fruit and veg bags, they so passionately carry from point A to B with Public Transport. Putting all their energy into ensuring their families are been taking care of really stands out for me. It made me realise that one need to count your blessings every day.
