Artist’s Biography: Lynette Martin
I was born and bred in Port Elizabeth and is a Baby Boomer. I cannot call myself an artist but have a great interest in sewing, beading, free style machine embroidery, Goldwork and Needle painting. I prefer to indulge in smaller projects which is easy to finish rather than larger projects as I become disinterested after a while. I love to use different techniques and the effects one can achieve by working a stitch freely instead of precisely. To make something from absolutely nothing is satisfying, it relieves stress and even lowers the blood pressure.
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
My inspiration for this art piece:
The colour blue is my favourite colour on the spectrum. It symbolizes serenity, inspiration, or wisdom. It can be a calming colour, and symbolizes reliability, loyalty, faith, truth, and heaven. It spiritually signifies the Healing Power of God. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. The theme of the exhibition Body Mind and Soul and the different and vast symbols of the theme and the meaning of the colour blue was the thought behind the Angel.
The fruits of the soul: Love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control and patience.
Every human being and especially cancer patients need an Angel to guide and protect them
