My inspiration for this art piece:

My inspiration for this piece is close to my heart and is dedicated to two very strong cancer survivors. THERESIA CARELSE, my sister and RIEKIE DU TOIT. They both are so inspiring with their pure determination and positive mind set.

During this year, in which we saw a total shut down of the hospitality industry, we were forced to think out of the box and designed a transparent  face mask for the hearing impaired, which was awarded the The Herald Citizen of the Year Award in the innovative category.

Besides my passion being my vocation I strife to capture the personality of each client to create a true reflection of the beauty that is hidden in every woman.

My inspiration for this art piece:

My inspiration for this piece is close to my heart and is dedicated to two very strong cancer survivors. THERESIA CARELSE, my sister and RIEKIE DU TOIT. They both are so inspiring with their pure determination and positive mind set.

The Queen of the Night is a very rare cactus species that is a perennial and can grow up to 10 feet tall.

This cactus grows and blooms in the hardiness and make use of other plants for support, which reminds us of our continuous support to cancer survivors. What also makes the cactus unique is that it blooms between dusk till dawn which reminds us that it is often in the darkest hours that something truly beautiful can prevail.

The Native American tribe Death Valley Shoshone, called this plant  ”pain in the heart”, and it is used to treat angina like pains ,Haemoptysis (coughing up blood from the lungs) and oedema (swelling caused by water retention).

The piece consists of white lace with a spiral of blue/green lace representing the stem and is encrusted with the aurora swarovski crystals. The actual blooms are handmade feather blooms.

Title of artwork: Queen of the Night
