Artist’s Biography: Caroline Vorster
I am a full-time artist and entrepreneur, have been fortunate to have been involved in several art exhibitions, have also featured nationally on SABC’s Eye on Art programs. I was fortunate to have sold eleven paintings at my very first exhibition within only a few hours of being open. I have also exhibited at the well-known Cuyler Gallery in Port Elizabeth.
I am mostly self-taught and have developed a unique style, loving bold and bright colours with thick brush strokes as well as palette knife which allows for a thick textured finish.
Scenes of the Cape inspired old buildings, local fisherman, and flower sellers are amongst my favourites. My art has not only sold locally but internationally as well, each painting tells a story allowing the imagination to wonder. I am passionate in what I do and am encouraged by the sales of my art and by expanding my vision in having my art printed on fabric and exploring new horizons for the future.
My inspiration for this art piece:
I decided to do something different and decided on the popular icon Frida Kahlo. I have used my own original artwork and mixed media to create this piece.
Frida was one of a kind and is gaining popularity amongst young and old, her life story will always be intriguing, and her legacy will live forever.
